Tin is In

Never thought I'd be posting photos of toy cars on the Chromefin blog until I read about this exhibition at the Japan Society in Manhattan. Buriki: Japanese Tin Toys from the Golden Age of the American Automobile runs until August 15th this year. I see a 1953 Cadillac (1/24th scale of course) in my future.

Hatches Liquors

Just back from a visit to Nantucket. Some nice old rides on this little island 30 miles off the coast of Cape Cod. This 57' Chevy Bel Air was pulled up at the pumps in front of Hatches Liquors.

Future Retro

Pete Wozena's Proposal for an Oldsmobile artwork graces the cover of Future Retro, a hardcover I picked-up recently at Amazon. This volume contains the collected artwork of 40's through 60's mostly GM designers drawings.

One of a reviewer's comments left on the website say's it all: "These days, when all an automotive designer has to do is draw a boiled sweet potato and add windows, headlights, taillights and tires, it's great to relive an era of tailfins, chrome, baby moon hubcaps, whitewalls and two-tone paint jobs". Roger that.

The 100 Six

Came across this cool, vintage sales brochure the other day on an Austin Healey enthusiast's site.

Cover Art

These two covers I redesigned were submitted on spec recently to Motorbooks, the leading publisher and distributor of books for the enthusiast, and one I have contracted some cover designs with in other areas.
